Full LED lifetime thanks to reliable and durable aluminum electrolytic capacitors
A lifetime of 100,000 hours and more poses no challenge for an LED, but what about the other components?
Through targeted development, aluminum electrolytic capacitors (Elkos for short) can also achieve an enormous lifespan. This characteristic is not only a successful development from an ecological perspective but also a good application criterion for manufacturers of LED lamps with LED drivers. Many electrolytic capacitors suffer from dehydration after just 10,000 hours due to lack of space and heat input, thereby losing their function, resulting in a destroyed LED lamp.
FROLYT Kondensatoren und Bauelemente GmbH capacitors do not exhibit this weakness, thanks to technical expertise and targeted material use. FROLYT perfects the system design of an electrolytic capacitor so that it works in optimal synergy with an LED. FROLYT capacitors have a lifetime of 40,000 hours at 105°C.
If one uses this result and applies the so-called 10-degree rule or the Arrhenius equation, this means a lifetime of 160,000 hours at a temperature of 75°C. Thus, nothing stands in the way of fully utilizing the LED’s lifetime from the Frolyt capacitor’s side.
