Frolyt Kondensatoren und Bauelemente GmbH has developed an SMD variant socket for mounting aluminum electrolytic capacitors, which can be reflow soldered from the blister tape. This socket design eliminates the need for manual soldering of the capacitor, resulting in significant time and cost savings when assembling modules. In addition, if an aluminum electrolytic capacitor plugged into the socket fails in a module, it can be quickly replaced. This simplifies minor repair work.
Only a little more height is required; the socket adds 5.6 mm to the height and has a diameter of 10.4 mm. The solution is suitable for capacitors with a pitch of 5 mm. A tensile strength of >10.0 kg (100 N) ensures safety. A voltage of <= 450 V and a maximum power of 1800 W can be applied. The pluggable wire diameters are 0.6 mm to 1.0 mm.

It is not strictly necessary to only plug in capacitors; all components with a pitch of 5.0 mm and a wire diameter of 0.6 mm to 1.0 mm can be plugged into the socket.
